Student/Social Media Manager/Aspiring Art Director

My name is Taylor and I am Senior at VCU. This spring, I will complete my Creative Advertising and Spanish degrees, and my current plan is to apply to the VCU Brandcenter with a concentration in Art Direction.

This summer, I interned at Millennium Corporation, an 8(a) small business that works in government contracting, as and administration and marketing intern, where I developed and revamped an issue of their quarterly newsletter, \"The Millennium Insider.\" I also gave a presentation on the necessity of social media to the company, with an evaluation of the company\'s current efforts as well as ways to improve, and gave my recommendation to the Executive Board as to why hiring a Social Media professional, such as a Social Media Marketing Manager or Social Media Analyst.

Previously, I was a graphic design intern for the Conceptual Modeling and Animation Team (CMA) for the Advanced Design and Manufacturing division at the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center. The CMA team helped to develop new manuals and new technologies to assist soldiers in the field. For example, we would create the digital interactive version of a manual for a new Humvee, which would allow individuals to quickly learn and have access to troubleshooting via tablet while in combat. Here, I learned how to use the entire Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis in Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. Also, while working with other interns, developed a website revamp for the organization and presented it to our team leader.

Currently, I am the active Social Media Manager for KODACHROME Virginia. KODACHROME is a non-profit organization that sponsors dance workshops at a different university in Virginia, and now also in North Carolina, every month. The founders of KODACHROME wanted to create an arena in which dancers in this area could grow and learn from each other as a community, and are on a mission to Expose Dance. As Social Media Manager, I work with Staff to promote the workshops, as well as organize campaigns about dance and our community and keep up with trends within the national and international dance scenes to share with our community.

I have also participated in Alternative Spring Break in Costa Rica (2011), as well as studied abroad in Cordoba, Spain (Summer 2013) where I took 6 credit hours while participating in 20 hours per week of Service Learning. In both of these programs, I worked with children in disadvantaged situations and taught English.

I hope to take all of these experiences and work towards a career that encourages people. As a child of a parent still Active in the military, I have never lived anywhere longer than three years which has mad me adaptable, versatile, quick-learning, and extremely open to new experiences and meeting new people. I\'m excited to see what I can do in the future.
